We propose building a machine learning algorithm that stores and calculates retail and grocery store inventory data, maximizing profit, and reducing waste due to overstock. Building an algorithm to process and control this data would mean to efficiently reduce or remove altogether the problem of food waste among supermarket chains. Implementing this in the market would be both an advantage for the business part of it, by minimizing costs, as well as being more environment friendly by reducing the amount of perfectly good products that go to waste because prediction on stocking were inaccurate. AI has already succeeded in many fields and its application has helped in developing and optimizing the service. Among many that could be listed, the medical, industrial and entertainment fields are just some examples were machine learning algorithms have made a difference. We believe that businesses such as markets would profit enormously by implementing this idea, as it has proven to be fruitful before.
